THE DAKAR RALLY PROTECTS THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

Showing once again a high level of commitment to the environment, Amaury Sport Organization (ASO), organizer of the Dakar Rally continues to directly support the conservation and protection of the Amazon rainforest and its communities, honoring a commitment made more than two years ago.

The support provided by ASO is intended to finance planned activities to prevent the deforestation of Brazil nut forests in Madre de Dios, Peru. In addition to protecting the forest, the main beneficiaries are the communities that make their living through the collection of Brazil nuts. The funding helps provides technical assistance, support for the forest monitoring system, organizational strengthening, legal advice and infrastructure including a processing plant.

Thus, the Dakar Rally, the most important competition of its kind, so related to natural beauty, spectacular landscapes and breathtaking challenges, has become a leader that promotes a cleaner, healthier world for future generations whose quality of life will depend on the salvation and protection of the lungs of the planet, located precisely in the Peruvian Amazon.

The Peruvian company Bosques Amazónicos is proud to have been chosen to mitigate the carbon footprint generated by the race. Today we can say that the Dakar Rally 2013 is a race that will leave no trace!
